Metcalf Grove

Notes: Metcalf Grove, also known at Jesse H. Metcalf Memorial Grove, surrounds Elk Creek, Jordan Creek, and Mill Creek on the western side of Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park. Senator and Mrs. Jesse H. Metcalf of Rhode Island donated this 1.5 mi2 (3.9 km2) tract of old-growth redwood forest to the State of California in 1939, and Save the Redwoods League dedicated the grove in 1942. Metcalf Grove became the second dedicated grove in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park.

Metcalf Grove includes 1 of the 10 largest trees on Earth and the 2nd largest coast redwood (Juggernaut). The grove contains 1 tree larger than 40,000 ft3 (1,133 m3).

Juggernaut is the largest tree in Metcalf Grove.
