Notes: Metcalf Grove, also known at Jesse H. Metcalf Memorial Grove, surrounds Elk Creek, Jordan Creek, and Mill Creek on the western side of Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park. Senator and Mrs. Jesse H. Metcalf of Rhode Island donated this 1.5 mi2 (3.9 km2) tract of old-growth redwood forest to the State of California in 1939, and Save the Redwoods League dedicated the grove in 1942. Metcalf Grove became the second dedicated grove in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park.
