Notes: South Grove is located beside Big Trees Creek in the southeastern portion of Calaveras Big Trees State Park. On April 16, 1954, Calaveras Grove Association and Save the Redwoods League purchased South Grove from Pickering Lumber Company for $2.8 million.

South Grove includes the largest tree in Calaveras Big Trees State Park (Louis Agassiz, the only tree in the grove larger than 30,000 ft³ (850 m³)).

Louis Agassiz is the largest tree in South Grove.
