Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park
Notes: Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, named after American explorer Jedediah S. Smith, was established on June 3, 1929 when Save the Redwoods League dedicated
Stout Grove near the confluence of Mill Creek and Smith River. Clara W. Stout, widow of lumberman Frank D. Stout, donated
the 45 acre (0.18 km2) tract of old-growth redwood forest to Save the Redwoods League in memory of her late husband.
Today, Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park spans more than 16 mi2 (42 km2) of terrain and includes 7% of the remaining old-growth coast redwoods on Earth.
